The Federal Scientific Agroengineering Center VIM was established on October 19, 2016 based on the Russian Research Institute of Agricultural Mechanization (VIM) with the accession of the Russian Research Institute of Agricultural Electrification (VIESH) to it and the Russian Scientific Research Technological Institute for the Repair and Operation of the Machine and Tractor Fleet (GOSNITI).

Currently, the Federal Scientific Agroengineering Center VIM is the leading research center of the country in the field of agroengineering science, machine-technological modernization of agriculture in the country, the introduction of the latest intelligent technologies and robotic technical means of a new generation into agricultural production.
